Tech Center

The Denver Technological Center, known by locals as the DTC, was established to create a high quality environment for people to work and live. Built in 1962 on 40 acres of land, the sprawling campus-like complex is now 909 acres located between I-25 and I-225.

Superblocks

The DTC is designed by zoning off Superblocks. Each Superblock is at least 30 acres and is required to have 30% of open space. Businesses, office complexes, apartments, single-family housing and roadways make up the rest of the space. The required open space and the common, shared, open spaces ensure approximately 40% of the DTC will be free from buildings, providing commons areas, parks and other outdoor recreation options for employees and residents.

DTC Stats

There are over 1,000 companies that call the DTC home, and over 35,000 employees working in these companies. There are 3,151 multi-family housing units and 115 single-family homes. There are over 14 million square feet of developed space in the DTC, with 9.4 million being office space.

Companies in the DTC

Few would argue that the DTC is one of the most attractive locations for large corporations to base their operations. Telecom companies were at the front of the development of the DTC, and United Cablevision, United Artists Cable and AT&T Broadband all began in the DTC. Other notable companies include: Sprint, DHL Express, Dow Jones & Company, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Nextel, Clear Channel, Boeing, Kraft, Nestle, Time Warner Cable, and Western Union.

Visiting the Denver Technological Center

Three major hotels can be found in the DTC. The Marriott Hotel has 650 rooms, the Hyatt Regency has 450 rooms, the Hilton Garden Inn has 180 rooms and the AmeriSuites has 120 rooms.

Once in the DTC, getting around is best accomplished by the 375 regular and express bus trips that are available Monday through Friday. Buses servicing the Southeast Corridor begin and end inside of the DTC, and many shuttle and limousine services serve the area for trips in and out of other areas of Denver.
