The city of Westminster has excellent schools and a wide choice of public facilities and housing. The city also offers an endless array of recreational activities. History
The area that eventually became Westminster was inhabited mainly by antelope and buffalo until the Gold Rush of the late 1850s, when pioneers settled in Colorado in the hopes of finding riches rather than continuing on to California. More people settled in Colorado after the enactment of the Homestead Act of 1862. In 1807, Pleasant DeSpain became the first permanent settler to build a home in Westminster.
Westminster Today
Westminster is an affluent community with high income households. Low taxes keeps the cost of living relatively low. Residential communities consist of apartments, luxury estates, custom homes and high-end residences. There are also pedestrian-friendly developments with built-in recreational, office and retail amenities. Westminster also has three excellent public school systems in addition to private and charter schools.

The city has one of the largest areas of retail space in Colorado, which includes the Westminster City Center Area, the Westminster Promenade, the Butterfly Pavillon and the Shops at Walnut Creek.
